{"id":5250,"date":"2012-07-25T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2012-07-25T04:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/192.168.195.175\/index.php\/2012\/07\/25\/older-fathers-may-give-longevity-to-their-offspring\/"},"modified":"2012-07-25T04:00:00","modified_gmt":"2012-07-25T04:00:00","slug":"older-fathers-may-give-longevity-to-their-offspring","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.goodworldnews.org\/index.php\/2012\/07\/25\/older-fathers-may-give-longevity-to-their-offspring\/","title":{"rendered":"Older fathers may give longevity to their offspring"},"content":{"rendered":"<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-full wp-image-5249\" src=\"http:\/\/192.168.195.175\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/cef8e7ed10ffa07bd8535ec35e230013.jpg\" alt=\"Image Credit: brandmill.com\" class=\"caption\" title=\"Father and son daps (fist bump)\" width=\"2500\" height=\"1674\" \/>\n<p>Younger fathers may be able to keep up with their kids in the playground, but a recent study has found evidence that older fathers\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">may<\/span> pass on longevity to their children.\u00a0 It has not been proven yet, but the study does show some really interesting evidence.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pnas.org\/content\/early\/2012\/06\/05\/1202092109.abstract\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The study<\/a> was developed by several professors at Northwestern University in Evanston, IL and University of Washington in Seattle, WA.\u00a0 This interesting study revolved around &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Telomere\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">telomeres<\/a>&#8221; which are structures at the end of chromosomes which protect the chromosome from damage. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Telomeres have been linked to the aging process.\u00a0 Shorter telomeres have been linked to a shorter lifespan while longer telomeres have been linked to longer lifespan.\u00a0 These structures become shorter over time in all areas except for within a man&#8217;s sperm where they actually get longer over time!<\/p>\n<p>This study focused their research on blood samples of over 2,000 people in the Philippines.\u00a0 The researchers discovered that telomere length was inherited by children AND their children&#8217;s children!\u00a0 This means that an older grandfather could pass the longer telomeres to both their son and grandchild!<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s a fascinating study that provides some real good insight into the aging process.\u00a0 It does NOT mean that men should wait until they are old to have children &#8211; there are also mutations that develop over time, but it is a promising study that is potentially unlocking another secret to the world that we live in.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Peace &amp; Love,<\/p>\n<p>Jon<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Research study: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pnas.org\/content\/early\/2012\/06\/05\/1202092109.abstract\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">http:\/\/www.pnas.org\/content\/early\/2012\/06\/05\/1202092109.abstract<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Younger fathers may be able to keep up with their kids in the playground, but a recent study has found evidence that older fathers\u00a0may pass on longevity to their children.\u00a0 It has not been proven yet, but the study does show some really interesting evidence.
