\nBen Baltz, a bone cancer survivor, was racing in his third triathlon of the summer.\u00a0 He was only a half mile away from the finish when he noticed something wrong with his prosthetic leg.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cIt [the leg] wobbles,\u201d Baltz told WHP-TV.\u00a0 While running, the screw came out and Ben fell down.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cI saw Ben fall to the ground,\u201d Pfc. Matthew Morgan, 19, of San Diego, informed the Marine Corps Times. \u201cI made it there first and he had already regained his composure and was trying to fix his leg. I asked if he needed help and he said, \u2018No, I just want to finish the race.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
Pfc. Matthew Morgan knew what he needed to do.\u00a0 Marines are trained never to leave anyone behind.\u00a0 He picked Ben up, put him on his back, and started running with a team of Marines.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Captain Frank Anderson, Morgan’s commanding officer, wasn’t surprised by this act.\u00a0 \u201cWe are selfless as an institution in the Marine Corps,\u201d Anderson said. \u201cPutting others before ourselves is second nature.\u201d<\/p>\n
