\n“Mikey’s Run” is a charity started by Harris Stolzenberg and his brother Michael, a 13 year old quadruple-amputee.\u00a0 They started the charity with an ambitious goal in mind – to raise $1 million!<\/p>\n
Their mother laughed when they mentioned their goal.\u00a0 \u2018If you can get $1,000, you should be happy.\u2019, their mother said.<\/p>\n
Michael has never been one to give up.\u00a0 When he was only 8 years old, he lost his limbs to gangrene.\u00a0 \u201cHe didn\u2019t complain one time,\u201d Harris said of his Michael. \u201cHe kind of just shrugged it off and said, \u2018I\u2019m going to make the most of this.\u2019\u00a0 That he did – within 4 months of getting his prosthetics, he was skiing.\u00a0 Within a year, he was playing lacrosse and football for his high school.\u00a0 So raising $1,000,000 for charity was no big deal \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n
Oprah’s donation really helped kick it off.\u00a0 When she got wind of their charity, she called Michael on the phone and said “I want to donate $100,000 to your charity”.\u00a0 The brothers were ecstatic to receive a call AND donation from Oprah herself!<\/p>\n
To this date, the brothers have received over $300,000 to their charity \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n
And that’s what’s good,<\/p>\n
