Make-A-Wish helps 8 year old becomes NFL Coach for a day

  • Published in Sports

Cam Newton, quarterback for the Carolina Panthers asked for his coaches autograph after practice on August 6th.  Coach Jack Bolton got the chance to be the Carolina Panthers honorary coach for the day.  I forgot to mention…Coach Jack Bolton is only 8-years-old!

Jack Bolton has spinal muscular atrophy, but that’s never deterred him from having the dream to be an NFL coach.  On this day, through the Make-A-Wish foundation, Coach Jack finally got his opportunity to be on the sidelines of an NFL team.

Steve Smith, the Panthers wide receiver even went over to the 8-year-old coach and asked him if he could get the quarterbacks to throw more passes his way!   The star coach even had a touching speech that he read to the team before practice started.  He let the team know that he’d be “looking for mistakes when I’m on the field watching you guys”!

Hopefully the Panthers listen to Coach Bolton’s advice and use it towards winning some games this year!

Have a great day, and let the good news be yours,

Jeremy

9 year old becomes youngest chess expert

  • Published in Sports

Carissa Yip is not your typical chess expert.  While other children her age are playing video games, Carissa is dominating the chess game.  At 9 years old, she is already one of the best chess players in the world!

How did she get so good?  Her father originally taught her and within a year she started beating him!  Then she took her skills outside the home, playing competitively at the MetroWest Chess Club and then the Wachusett Chess Club where she is currently the best player.  This December, she will play in the Youth Championships in the United Arab Emirates.

Carissa is said to be pretty intimidating when she plays.  She can even play without looking by calling out the moves and keeping track of the positions in her head!

The U.S. Chess Federation ranked her in the top 7% of all registered players, and the top 2% of female players.  Carissa's overall goal is to be the first female chess champion!

And that's what's good,

Jon

Anala Beevers is a 4 year old prodigy

Imagine hearing a child recite their ABC’s at just 4 months old, and also count in Spanish and English by 1 ½!

4-year-old Anala Beevers never leaves her home without her map of America, which she can also recite every State and State Capital.  She was invited to join MENSA which is an international organization for people who score at the 98th percentile or higher on a standardized, supervised IQ or other approved intelligence test.

Her parents understand they have a little Einstein on their hands and say that “she’s a handful, and she needs a reality show”!

Nala aspires to be a nurse when she grows up, but I have a hunch that we will be hearing of a lot more remarkable things out of her before then.  Keep up the good work Nala!

Have a great day, and let the good news be yours,

Jeremy
