What do you do when your daughter asks if she can save Mario in a video game? Put her in the game of course! Mike Mika spent hours into the night hacking the video game to insert his daughter, Pauline, as the main character while making Mario the character needing rescuing.
“Now I’m up at midnight hacking the ROM, replacing Mario with Pauline,” Mika said. “I’m using the 2010 NES Donkey Kong ROM. I’ve redrawn Mario’s frames and I swapped the palettes in the ROM. I replaced the M at the top with a P for Pauline.”
